Prices go up and prices go down, but this year they're going every which way. While it's difficult to predict how the economy will impact the cost of products and services, there are several sure bets on both ends of the scale. Here are a few predictions. GOING UP Orange Juice The FDA discovered "low levels" of a fungicide in the 2011 orange crop imported from Brazil, the world's largest produce of oranges. Airfare More people want to fly,...

Through the ages, women have never had a lack of complaints about the inequalities between men and women. Particularly when it comes to romance, dating and age, there's always been a lot to complain about. I wish I could say that I am not about to contribute to that litany of gripes, but oh no, I'm about to jump right in. So, this whole "Cougar" thing. Do you wish you could be high fashion, but would rather spend the money helping others? Then the (Eco)mpassion sample sale is your shopping dream. It is fashion with a conscience. Not only were many of the clothes made from eco-friendly materials like the Ryann tank top made of hemp and bamboo, but 5% of the proceeds of the sale are being donated to plant trees. When you finished your shopping experience, you got to have your picture taken with a sign telling you how many trees would be planted from your purchase. Another way the (Eco)mpassion sale helped you give back was by selling $20 bottled water, the proceeds of which went to cleaning drinking water for those in need. The markdowns were phenomenal on brands like T-bags, Caravan and Rebecca Taylor. There was also a small section of men’s clothing by Steven Allen. Prices ranged from $12 to about $100 per item. While the space was cramped, the deals found on the rack made it worth while. Unlike many other sample sales, the range of sizes was great.

For those of you who don’t like to carry cash, there was a minimum of $100 on charge but there were plenty of gorgeous items making that an easy mark to hit! So go on, don’t feel bad, shop and give back all at once!
